Under the guidance of Junior Leader, Mel Dewis,
our Juniors were successful competitors in the winter and summer Fire Brigade
Competitions. Today many trophies are proudly on display in the cabinet in
the foyer of the Hastings Fire Station.
Many of the past Junior Fire Brigade members have progressed to become senior
members of the Hastings Fire Brigade and other C.F.A. brigades.
Today
Today we are known as the ‘Hastings
Hornets’ and our Junior Leader is Robert Kupsch, who is an operational
volunteer members of the Hastings Fire Brigade. Frequently, other senior
members of our brigade will also assist our Junior Leaders with training.
We see are Junior Volunteer Development Program at Hastings an important way
to recruit & mould the fire fighters of the future. We promote team building
and comradeship amongst our Junior Fire Brigade members whilst learning many
aspects of fire fighting. Training includes practical theory on Wildfire Fire
& Compartment Fire, Tanker and Hose Laying Drills, Draughting, Search and
Rescue, Radio Operations & Map Reading just name a few.
