Fire Danger Period

Category : Brigade News

The fire danger period for our district (District 8) will begin Monday 19th November, 2018 and will continue though to 1st May, 2019. This means there are restrictions to what you can and cannot do in respect to fire danger and fire activity. We urge all locals to familiarise themselves with the Can I or Can’t I information posted on the CFA website. All of us at the Hastings CFA hope you have a safe time throughout the warmer months of the year, we hope the information posted on the link will assist in doing so.

Large January Scrub Fire

Category : Brigade News

At 2:11pm on January 3, Hastings Fire Brigade was paged to a grass fire behind K and K Steel on Frankston-Flinders Road in Hastings; with Tyabb, Somerville, Moorooduc and Bittern also paged in support. From a crew already located at the fire station, the Tanker was quickly dispatched to the scene of the call with the Pumper following shortly afterwards. On arrival crews found several burning piles of rubbish and wood with fire rapidly spreading, driven by strong northerly winds. The fire quickly entered a timber yard located to the south near Reid Parade and Frankston-Flinders Road and took hold amongst all the wood, creating a challenging inferno.

A Busy Weekend

Category : Brigade News

Saturday November 8 was always going to be busy for the brigade, with the Car Boot sale happening at the fire station, but the day ended up being far busier than anyone had imagined thanks to the hot and breezy conditions.

The Car Boot sale began at 8:30am lasting until 2:30pm, the brigade serving shoppers food and drinks in the heat as they browsed the stalls. It was fantastic to have many people come through and we are looking forward to running the next Car Boot sale next year.
