Fire Restrictions Are Now In Force
Category : Fire Safety
It is advised that restrictions on the lighting of fires as provided under the Country Fire Authority Act 1958, have been imposed in the Mornington Peninsula Shire from:
0100 hours on Monday 27 January, 2014 until 0100 hours on Thursday 1 May, 2014 (unless extended or curtailed in the meantime).
Extreme caution is necessary throughout the Fire Danger Period because dry vegetation and hot weather increase the risk of fires accidentally igniting and spreading. No fires in the open air are allowed during this time without a permit.
For more information on Total Fire Bans, Fire Restrictions and Fire Ratings please visit the CFA website or contact the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667.
The Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Open Air Burning Local Law is not valid during the Declared Fire Danger Period.
With fire restrictions in force, now is the time if you have not already prepare your property and ensure it is in a Fire Ready State. Due to the considerable grass growth across the Mornington Peninsula in late 2013 and early 2014 there is an above-average risk of grassfires for this fire season now upon us.
PREPARE for the fire season.
